• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
    If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Question how to enable symlinks in proftpd

New Pleskian
Hi,

Since migrating to plesk onyx my ftp users are not able to view symlinks in their folders. Is it possible to change this behaviour?

I used to use pure-ftpd instead of proftpd and this was working.

Looking at the ProFTPd: ShowSymlinks and the ProFTPd configuration files ('/etc/proftpd.conf', the files in '/etc/proftpd.d/' and the '/etc/xinetd.d/ftp_psa'), symlinks should be visible.

This might be a case of partial FTP client incompatibility.

To instruct ProFTPd to use a different symlink syntax (which is apparently preferred by FileZilla and perhaps other FTP clients), add the following to a new ProFTPd configuration file (e.g. '/etc/proftpd.d/symlink-compat.conf'):
Code:
<IfModule mod_facts.c>
FactsOptions UseSlink
</IfModule>

It would be prudent to test several different FTP clients in order to investigate how they handle symlinks before deciding whether to use the above.
