outging server: mail.mydomain.co.uk

my ISP only said that i need to setup a mail server but didn't explain how?

I am on PLESK v8.2.1 and Virturozzo

I hope you will try to use easy language for explanation and instruction due to my lack of knowledge. Thanks in advance

You don't need to set up a mailserver. Your VPS provider is not being very helpful. If this is the level of support you get all the time (as opposed to one guy having a bad day) then I think you should consider another company.

When you install Plesk it configures your operating system to provide website hosting and email (and other things)

When you add a domain to plesk, and set up email for that domain, Plesk will make all the configuration changes needed to host that domain's website and deal with incoming email for it.

What Plesk cannot do is set up your domain correctly to point to your Plesk server and use the website hosting and email facilities provided there. To do this you need to do several things, including creating nameserver host records pointing to two IP addresses (both can be your Plesk server). You also then have to configure your domain name to use those nameserver host records. This tells the Internet at large (my plesk server deals with the DNS of my domain). If you have already done this then great - ignore me. If you have not then maybe you have manually configured your domain's DNS through your registrar's DNS facility?

Anyway, if the domain name itself is configured correctly, you need to check on a number of things. It could be that the email side of things on your server isn't running correctly. Or there could be a DNS problem. Or all sort of other things.

So your first step is to use www.dnsreport.com to check if the domain name is setup correctly. The test will also check your basic email settings.

Thanks for the information i test my domain and email through www.dnsreport.com it seems quite few problems the report is quite long i can post it on forum

Domain report has quite a few yellows (warnings) and three Reds (failed)
and emai reports say:
"Getting MX record for www.mydomain.co.uk (from local DNS server, may be cached)... There is no MX record for www.mydomain.co.uk! That's bad.
Checking for an A record... Got it!"

I don't think so I can ever fix this problem on my own. Reports is too complicated to read or understand, at least for me. I simply need to change the provider but just paid for the next three month. please let me know if you can help regarding problem and tell me a the ISP with good support service.
Thanks again

This indicates that you have not set up DNS correctly.

I would love to help but I may not be able to do so quickly.

If nobody else has offered any assistance yet, PM me your email address and I'll see what I can do.
