Question How to use 2FA for email

kolchose

New Pleskian
Server operating system version
Linux
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk 18
Dear community,

I'm really new to use a own domain for personal email.

I have some questions and I hope someone can help me.
I have a small hosting package (wint global classic 1.0) there is 15gb space with own domain and plesk for Linux.

I will use this domain only for personal email communication.

For security reason I will protect the email accounts with 2fa.

I use the Google authenticator for plesk login but it is not use for email login.

At the moment I use the "build in" email without webmail.
There is no option to activate 2fa.

I doesn't need webmail because I use a email client on my devices.

Have I install a webmail client like SOgo roundcube or horde?

Has someone any ideas for me?

Thanks in advance.

Hey! Sorry, I'm a little confused by the wording. You said you don't need webmail, right? If you're asking if it's a requirement to have webmail, then no. You can disable and uninstall it if you prefer. Let me know if you want to know how, or if I understood things wrongly.

Sorry for confusing.

Yes you are right. I don't need webmail.
I willdisable webmail in plesk.

But it would be nice to have 2fa , sso or similar to protect the email accounts.
Or is it not necessary?

At this point, 2FA for mail accounts is not supported in Plesk. There's an active request for this functionality, which you may find here. If you believe the feature should be added, please consider voting for it.
