IMAP Email Sync Issues

FarmFactory

New Pleskian
Hi all,

We manage a Linux VPS using Parallels Plesk 11.0.9 for a client of ours. We're experiencing ongoing issues with their emails, namely sync issues and IMAP sub-folder downloading. I have since discovered that I can set the root path to 'inbox.' to enable all folders to download which seems to have solved that particular issue.

However, the accounts are so temperamental, flagging sync issues and 'server rejection' messages using both Microsoft Outlook and Windows Live Mail. It's as though the accounts are becoming disconnected from the server. We've tried the accounts on both the clients machines & network and our own network.

Our server has offered support, but has stated:

"We've looked into this for you as much as we can go, I do believe that the information in this ticket is leading to a error with Plesk. We've advised you the best in which we can but I would recommend for you to look at some forums or even contact Plesk themselves.

Even we have had problems with synchronising in Outlook on our machines, it does seem to be an ongoing problem in which Plesk should be able to advise.

The only other thing I can think of to do here is take a backup of all the email accounts and their content and completely wipe every element of Outlook from the server.

Other than that I'm afraid we can't do much more here, please do look at Plesk forums and even contact them if possible."

I'm sure you will ask for more information and so do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance,
FF

Usually, issues like this are just down to too few allowed concurrent connections.

Take a look here:
http://kb.parallels.com/en/113841

Increase the limit to 80 or something like that and you should be OK.

There have been reported issues with iPhones doing silly things despite changes in the numbers here. If you search for IMAP in the forums you should be able to find the thread.
