& in email address

I have a new client, who is trying to port all old email addresses from their existing system accross into plesk.

The problem is that a couple of email addresses have an & in them, but plesk is complaining that these are not valid email addresses... I have had a quick search around the net... and I dont think according to the RFC that it is an invalid charcter...

Is there anyway I can remove this restriction?

Regards

Ben

I must admit that I've never seen an & in an email adddress in my life. The only puctuation I've ever seen is the dot, hyphen and underscore ( . - _ ).

Faris.

A lot of the most widely used mailservers are not RFC compliant, like qmail. So if you get this fixed for your own mailserver, chances are high some other relay on the web will not parse the emailadres correctly thus dropping your mail.

I advise not to use this character.
