Hi,

Try ceating a symbol link from the real mysql sock to /tmp/mysql.sock how it is advised it KB:

# ln -s /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp/mysql.sockv
Also, make sure just in case that there is no empty user in mysql:
# mysql –uroot
> Use mysql
> select * from user where User=””;
