Installing Old Backups???

How can I install Backups that were made with the Backup features of 7.5.4 onto a fresh installation of Plesk 8.1? We are worried about the upgrading procedure and hope that we can create backups of everything that will be able to be utilized in the event we have to do a fresh installation. Any advice please? We're upgrading two machines running FreeBSD 4.11 and Plesk 7.5.4. We've tested the upgrade process on home machines, it failed twice and worked twice... Just want to have a backup plan in place of a botched upgrade. Thanks so much.

Backups made with Plesk 7.5.4 are not compatible with 8.0 and I would guess, 8.1. But you can download the backup agent from http://www.swsoft.com/en/download/plesk/utilities/ which will allow you to make compatible backups on your 7.5.4 box.

That said, I have not done that myself, but others on this forum have and said it worked.

so this backup agent creates backwards compatible (all versions) backups eh? Supposedly any way? Is that what I'm understanding? There's no documentation with it so...
