Question Is it possible to disable the "create customer" fly-out and return to the normal screen version?

Problem: The new method to create customers and accounts takes many more clicks to correctly fill the fields. For example, we need to at least change the customer's country from "United States" to another country. This does now require opening an extra section. The same is true for setting the FTP/SSH user name. The fly-out also contains a graphical error. For example when the "customer data" section is opened to enter address and/or country, the green overlay that notifies us about the password strength is not closed an in the way (optically). This needs yet another click to remove.

The whole thing got a lot more complicated, confusing and time-consuming compared to the regular page version.

Is it possible to set a panel.ini entry to disable the new fly-out method of creating customers?

Hi @Peter Debik,

The is no method to disable the fly-out method as it's part of the Plesk redesign (we called it a 'Drawer').

But you can expand both sections using the following panel.ini options:
[domainManagement] settings.collapsed = false [customerManagement] settings.collapsed = false

By collapsing these sections, we had intentions to speed up the process of a Customer/Subscription/Domains creation by hiding less important information and pre-fill data (in the case of SSH/FTP access).

Could you please share why it's so important for you to change the 'Country' field (of any other additional data for customers), and to change credentials for a created customer during a website creation?

Thank you in advance.

The fly-out also contains a graphical error.
We will definitely fix it.

@Anthony

We leave all address fields empty, but the country seems to important to some customers that this reflects their country. I am not sure why this is. Maybe the customers are afraid that a wrong VAT rate will be applied if the country setting is wrong, maybe they just don't feel at home with a wrong country setting. Some might fear that a "wrong" country setting would slow down their website. We know, this isn't true, but customers always want to see their very own identity reflected in an account. Some customers even populate the rest of the fields, although we never need those. In earlier Plesk versions, the country field was pre-filled with the correct country according to the browser's language setting. This was much better than the current solution where everything is located in the U.S.

The credentials for "Web Hosting" user name (first SSH, FTP account) are at least relevant to inform the new customer how to log in. Even if we would not change the user name, we'd still need to open the section to copy the user name that the system suggests. However, in our case here we have our own name structure, so we also change it. The password needs to be set to a known value, too, else an onboarding-mail to the customer could not be created.

The best way of manual account creation here would indeed be a top-to-bottom list of all relevant fields, immediately visible at a glance. I'll try the "settings.collapsed" option for [customerManagement].

Thank you. Your feedback is very valuable.

Totally make sense. We will revise this option once again.
