• Hi, Pleskians! We are running a UX testing of our upcoming product intended for server management and monitoring.
We would like to invite you to have a call with us and have some fun checking our prototype. The agenda is pretty simple - we bring new design and some scenarios that you need to walk through and succeed. We will be watching and taking insights for further development of the design.
If you would like to participate, please use this link to book a meeting. We will sent the link to the clickable prototype at the meeting.
  • (Plesk for Windows):
MySQL Connector/ODBC 3.51, 5.1, and 5.3 are no longer shipped with Plesk because they have reached end of life. MariaDB Connector/ODBC 64-bit 3.2.4 is now used instead.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.

Issue Issues with Nameservers

Azurel

Silver Pleskian
Server operating system version
AlmaLinux 8.9
Plesk version and microupdate number

Previous my private server was from HOSTER-A, later I changed to HOSTER-B and moved with plesk migrate.

1. when I look at the DNS entries, the old DNS NS entries from the old server HOSTER-A seem to have been retained when moving using Migrate. Is this a bug?

2. the new nameservers NS of HOSTER-B are in the "Zone Records Template", but APPLY does not enter them anywhere where NS are already included. Is that how it should be?

3. how do I replace old nameservers with the new ones without having to replace each domain manually?

Can anyone here help me? :)

No. Hosting of server and domain is separate in principle, you don't have to change the domain registrar when you move your server elsewhere, so this is not a bug.

I think you have misunderstood something here. The nameservers come from the hoster. If I change the hoster, then also its nameserver and this is already in the template at Hetzner by default, which was probably ignored during Migrate from Hosteurope. This has nothing to do with domains and registrars. My domains are with a completely different provider with their nameservers, which are not even here in Plesk.

I think you have misunderstood something here. The nameservers from the hoster are only relevant for your domains' NS records if they are supposed to be authoritative for those domains (i.e. configured as such at the domain registrar). If your domains and nameservers are at a completely different provider which doesn't change, there is no need to have them changed in your templates. If they are not even in plesk, entering hetzner's nameservers in the plesk templates will only lead to issues with the hetzner nameservers as plesk will try to publish changes to what it expects to be a secondary, but the hetzner servers will refuse because they are not set as authoritative for the domain by the NS record set at the registrar.

Is the problem you are describing not already there with the Hosteurope nameservers? What is the difference? MXtoolbox does not show me any problems, neither with the Hosteurope nor Hetzner nameservers in Plesk, its not show up. Nevertheless, thanks for your feedback.
