key retrieval not possible

I wanted to update my Plesk from 7.5.4 to 8.x.. I was told to update my key first, by going to Server -> License Management and click Retrieve Keys.

Unfortunately this does not work. I get the the following error:
Code:
Key installation failed: fatal error: mkstemp() failed: Permission denied

I get permission denied errors in other areas of plesk as well (i.e. changing mail settings), so I assume that the plesk admin user doesn't have the correct permissions to change stuff in my system. But how can I fix that?

My system is Debian 3.1.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS: Another error I get is, when I want to remove a subdomain. That was the initial reason for me, to upgrade Plesk in the first place. The error looks like this:
Code:
<mydomain.tld>

Unable to delete SubDomain: Unable to execute dnsmng: dnsmng failed: dnsmng: Unable to open file ''/var/named/run-root/etc/named.conf.lock'': Permission denied.
dnsmng: Error occurred while locking the file /var/named/run-root/etc/named.conf

System error 13: Permission denied
