• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Linux/Plesk newbie, questions about SSL and subdomains

JamBan

New Pleskian
Hi, thanks for reading.

I just hired a Strato dedicated server for which im hoping to use to host SugarCRM systems.

For each system I will create a sub-domain such as:

customer1.stratpserver.com/sugar
customer2.stratpserver.com/sugar
customer3.stratpserver.com/sugar
...etc

Now, as i have never purchased an SSL before, i would like each of my sub-domains to have a secure connection.

I assume that I need to be using the "Rapid SSL wildcard" as when I hover over the Info button, it reads: "With a Wildcard Certificate you can secure unlimited subdomains on a server with only one SSL certificate". (please see the image attached)

Would this be the option you guys would recommend?

.............Or would my best option be to host each system like:

crm.stratoserver.com/customer1
crm.stratoserver.com/customer2
crm.stratoserver.com/customer3

Then I would have thought I would just need an SSL for a single domain.

Both options work by logic, but again that comes back to your preference + budget
