  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Mail Delivery Problems

My company hosts a website for a domain on our Plesk server, but the company who owns the domain has their own exchange server. We have configured their DNS so the domain name resolves to our server, but mail.theirdomainname.com resolves to their exchange server as does their mx record. Most mail delivery works fine. However, when someone tries to send mail to the domain using our plesk server as their outgoing server, they get a bounce message from qmail that says the mail account they were trying to deliver to doesn't exist. That's true, it doesn't exist on our server, but the mail should be forwarded to the exchange server which is what the dns record refers to. I think I will have to resolve this by telling qmail it is not responsible for the domain and that it should forward the mail on to the appropriate server but I don't know how to do that. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Troy

It seems you have done all that needs to be done but just to be sure;

example -

Exchange Server public -63.23.1.23
Domain name - theirdomain.com

Create A record -
exchange.theirdomain.com = 63.23.1.23

Create MX Record -
(mx5) theirdomain.com = exchange.theirdomain.com

If it is created this way it should work baring any internal DNS problem, restart BIND just in case.

For emails originating from the plesk box to be forwarded may require relaying message setup in qmail, probably involves editing the rcpthost.

have you turned of mail from within plesk ? go to mail and make sure its off . if the domain is using external mail servers make sure the mails disabled from within plesk.
