Mail migration/backup in Plesk

lgalarra

New Pleskian
Hi all,

I have 2 servers using Plesk 12.0.18, one with Ubuntu 10.04 (old) and other with Ubuntu 14.04 (new). I carried out a migration of my two websites (with 2 different domais) from the old to the new server and configured the DNS so that the registers point to the new server. Unfortunately the migration manager does not take care of the emails. Does Plesk offer a way to perform the migration of my emails from the old to the new server? Both servers have POP and IMAP servers running. I tried to use getmail to retrieve my emails from the old server but I do not know how to handle the fact that the old server is not any longer associated to the domains of my websites. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Best,
Luis

@Igalarra,

Plesk migration manager is migrating all content, including databases and mail, if and only if

a) you specify so, at the moment of migration,

b) with respect to the mail: the same mail servers is used (qmail versus postfix, the chosen mail server on the source and target server should be identical).

Note that the migration manager should be giving you some error notifications, when something happens that is not conform migration policy.

Did you get any?

Did you check whether the source and target mail server are identical?

Finally, note that you use the migration manager over and over: hence, if the first attempt fails, just try again (no harm done to migrated data).

Just let me know.

Kind regards.....
