Question mariadbd high(?) RAM usage while "sleeping": is this normal?

Harun

New Pleskian
Server operating system version
Debian 11.7
Plesk version and microupdate number
Plesk Obsidian Version 18.0.52 Update #3, last updated on May 17, 2023
Looking at the Process List in Plesk, I see:
Full command
/usr/sbin/mariadbd

RAM usage 25.6 % (RAM virt 1.53 GiB/ RAM res 203.36 MiB)
CPU usage: 0.2%
State: Sleeping
Disk I/O (read) 0 KiB/s
Disk I/O (write) 0 KiB/s

I have a total of 2GB of RAM. Is it normal for mariadbd to be using this much RAM while "sleeping"? Is it a problem and should I do anything about it?

My overall RAM usage is around 55% when the system is idle (few if any website visitors). I plan for the site to launch soon and become more active, so I want to know I have enough capacity. (small business Wordpress/Woocommerce site)

Correct, when sleeping a process can still hold RAM. Sleeping is waiting on something to complete or to happen. There is no problem with it.
