Resolved Migrate Plesk 12.5 local Mail to Plesk Onyx remote Smartermail Problem

Hello all

We installed a new win 2016 plesk onyx server with a win 2016 remote smartermail server. so far so good. before that we asked via ticket plesk if it's possible to migrate from plesk 12.5 local icewarp mails to plesk 17.x onyx to remote smartermail. we were told that this is no problem and easy working because it goes over the plesk migrator.

today we tested it and it fails. we can not migrate mail content from local mails to new plesk with remote smartermail. we get the following error:

------------------------------------------
[2 Dec 16 14:38:40] [Migration] Failed to copy mail content of subscription. Most probably that happens because of a network-related issue. Check network connections between source and target servers, then run migration for that subscription once more.
Migration tools tried to perform operation in 3 attempts: Command execution failed on the local server with non-zero exit code.
command: E:\plesk_data\var\modules\panel-migrator\sessions\20161202133437\target-server\MailMigrator.exe list-message-ids --account-description-file=E:\plesk_data\var\modules\panel-migrator\sessions\20161202133437\target-server\mail\3swim-coaching.ch\coach\mailbox-description --output-file=E:\plesk_data\var\modules\panel-migrator\sessions\20161202133437\target-server\mail\3swim-coaching.ch\coach\exclude-message-ids
exit code: 2
stdout:
stderr: Error: Mail restore is not implemented for Plesk mail provider smremoteprovider.dll
--------------------------------------------

it looks like this function altough confirmed from plesk is not even implemented!!

Hello!
Plesk Migrator does not support migration to remote Smarter, this feature is in plans on 2017.

Hello Alina

It's not solved! we became a confirmation from plesk support at the 18.10.2016 that this is allready working without any problems and that we can to it. the ticket number was:
Plesk #2066066

And the new bug number is:
Plesk #2069998

So it not solved at all. we would like to have that solved as fast as possible.

best regards chris

According to Support ticket (not bugreport) #2069998:

Developers explained the current status of bug #PMT-3185: in order to fix the issue on your server, it is not just a custom fix required but an implementation of the totally new feature in a product. It requires significant code modification and developers are actively working on that at the moment. The new feature in Plesk Migrator will be implemented till the end of December.

You can escalate this issue in scope of your open Support ticket.

It's good to hear that the Plesk developers have this on the schedule for release in a few weeks, as without it remote SmarterMail is more or less useless. If you can't migrate accounts to the remote mail server then the only people who can use it are people who are on Day 1 of a new hosting business; but they are the least likely to want a a separate mail server. Most of us actually have live customers, so we need a migration path.

Hello!
We`ve published Panel Migrator v. 2.3.2 and it contains functionality to migrate to remote Smarter Mail

Hi Alina. Many thanks for that important update. we will test it and give some feedback. best regards
