Just got a notice from sw-soft claiming that they are sunsetting these releases.

My question is, what is the easiest way to transition from one Plesk release to another on the same machine, with minimal downtime? Would I have to back up each individual domain?

I'm in the same boat basically

We want to migrate off Fedora Core 2 to Debian. I searched the knowledgebase and didn't find a detailed answer.

The only thing I have found so far is this general description under their product web site:

Migrate from One OS to Another

Using our Backup/Restore utilities it's easy to migrate your live server from one operating system to another. Just backup your server's data and then restore it on another server under another operating system. You can also use this way to migrate from obsolete unsupported operating system to new version.
