Basic Pleskian
Hope this helps anyone looking for information on Mailenable -> SM migration
We have upgraded 7.5.4 from Mailenable to Smartermail.
We did face some difficulty.
It seems that both companies have not synchronised their products, which i would request them to do so.
Things to know before you migrate:
1. Smartermail converter will convert everything from Mailenable including the Mail DATA.
2. After installing SM, you have to make the change between Mailenable -> SM from Plesk interface. This takes a long time and Plesk recreates the Mail IDs.
Steps you should follow (Can advice this after a lot of trials):
Based on the above what we would recommend (Pl. correct us if wrong)
1. Install SM on server.
2. Stop mail service.
3. From Plesk control panel change Mailenable -> Smartermail (takes time)
took us about 40 mins to migrate 50 domains with 250 mailIDs
4. Once done, Stop SM service
5. Run Mailenable converter (This will copy all data to relevant mailboxes)
Again takes time... took us about 30 mins.
6. Restart service and ur done.
Problems encountered:
1. During step (3) u might receive an error Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 600 seconds exceeded in C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\plib\common_func.php3 on line 675.
Solution ::
change the variable value (php_admin_value max_execution_time)
within
C:\Program Files\SWsoft\Plesk\admin\conf\httpd.conf
to 60000 for example.
2. Next Webmail might not work, as it gives and error in IE. (works fine with Firefox)
In IIS point the home directory for your webmail to the following:
"C:\Program Files\SmarterTools\SmarterMail\MRS" (or use the location in which you installed SmarterMail).
There are other minor issues....which shouldnt really create an issue..
AH yes..one more thing...
The SMTP authentication doesnt work with PLESK...there is a BUG which they will address in 7.5.5
Phew...Never typed so much
Hope the above helps in ur migration.
