  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Migration

Steven_Thacher

New Pleskian
What I'm looking to do is upgrade Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 I'm afraid of a lot of things breaking. So I setup VPS on digital ocean and installed plesk 12.5. I have never used the migration feature before and I was thinking of just migrating everything over to the VPS while I upgrade my dedicated server. I use cloudflare for all of my domains so switching the IP's the sites are pointed at is almost instant.

The stupid question that I have is if I migrate will It delete anything from the old server?
My gut says no....but I would hate to be wrong its a fair amount of stuff 60-70gb.

Just trying to find out if I use the migration tool to migrate one server to another will the files on the original server be deleted?

Hi,

of course they are not deleted :)
As far as I remember they use rsync and/or tar to migrate your data to the new server.
Do keep in mind though that when you do the migration into the other direction, all changes
made in the meantime have to either be transferred back or you will have to choose the option of replacing everything
that already exists.

Regards,
Kristian
