Multiple stuff!

Hi all,

Why is there no support for postfix? Postfix is activly developed, whereas qmail has no 'official patches' or approved patches since 2004.

I want postfix 2.2 or up!

For example: user1 has company.com and otherdomain.org. "company.com" has 3 major products.

I want these subdomains:
http://product1.company.com
http://product2.company.com
http://product3.company.com
and
http://www.otherdomain.org

with this directory structure:
/home/user1/httpdocs/prod1/
/home/user1/httpdocs/prod2/
/home/user1/httpdocs/prod3/
/home/user1/httpdocs/otherdomain/

Users have to structure their webdocument on their own!
One user has only one login!
One user can have multiple domains
No multiple directories for multiple domains!!!
I want easy subdomain creation!
Not some *.conf editing.
Please no more 'a new directory tree for every domain'!
Please no more 'seperate mail administration for every subdomain or domain of every customer'!

I will settle for postfix 1.0 ;-0

Oh Lars, u're exactly at my point. These 'standard' most important features (instead of this watchdog for example.. lol) should really be implemented.

i agree, the subdomain management was better implemented in confixx, in my opinion.
and postfix, support for it was asked over and over, but i guess we will have to stuck with qmail...
i finally managed to fix the qmail problems on debian back in january, and im happy enought now that it works... and btw swsoft now published its patches so you can compile your own qmail.
but still i would prefer postfix :)

Update:

Why is every php script encrypted?
With confixx you can customize the things your way. (for example "_" in pathnames)

Why is /var/log/messages full of :
.... kernel: websrvmng[15020]: segfault at 0000000000000000 rip 00002aaaab0c8957 rsp 00007fffffb93030 error 4

What's the difference between
# l /usr/sbin/spamd
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 73238 Nov 15 16:59 /usr/sbin/spamd*
# l /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/spamd
-r-xr-x--- 1 root psaadm 1074736 Aug 24 2005 /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/spamd*

Have a nice day

Why are you writing in a big daft font? Everybody can read fonts that are normal size and colour like this.

Subdomain creation is easy, you click add subdomain. There is no editing of configuration files. I dont see a problem with having one FTP user per domain name, it has worked well for us for years as it has other companies.

Subdomains shouldnt be stored under httpdocs, they should be seperate with their own httpdocs how they are now to keep everything structured.

The admin PHP is encoded because Plesk is a commercial product, alot of work has gone into it and I'm sure if you was a developer you wouldnt want your work stolen or tampered with.

Hi PaulC,

I write in big red font for the guys from swsoft. They don't have to read the hole posting to get my input for improvements I want.

Try subdomains my way

with this directory structure:

home/users/html/product1/
home/users/html/product2/
home/users/html/product3/

www.company.com/product1
www.company.com/product2
www.company.com/product3

product1.company.com/
product2.company.com/
product3.company.com/

Or even www.product1-website.com is possible with only a little changes to plesk and willingness from swsoft.

The subdomain creation is easier this way like it is in confixx. No different html directories for these subdomains.

In confixx you could customize some input fields with changing the validation (php regex). In plesk you don't have the posibility to change anything because of the encoded php. You can not copy one installation of confixx to other servers because of the license-key. The license key is "branded" for the IP address and the MAC address of your server. There is no stealing of code.

The SWsoft Online Forum has been open to allow our customers to assist each other with questions regarding the use of PSA and Plesk software

If SWsoft is clever they probably read the papers their gold partners write, because they bring much more money than single customers.

How do you prevent disabling key checking in the presence of nonencrypted PHP?

If their gold partners are clever they won't use plesk! Too much service and support for plesk bugs

I do not want to prevent disabling key checking. The key checking could be done in the "segfault factory" (websrvmng). It could check IP address, MAC address, serial......
I just want to make my life with plesk easier (=customize) with encrypted PHP it's not possible.

We've been partners for years and I stand 100% behind the Plesk product. They have issues, sometimes major ones, but they do sort them and I feel respected when requesting new features or fixes and generally dealing with staff from right across SWsoft from support staff to developers to product managers to sales to their CEO.

No. Did you?
Originally posted by Cranky ...I feel respected when requesting new features or fixes...
1) What were the feature requests or fixes you demanded in 2005 from SWsoft?
2) How long did they need to fullfill your requests or fixed stuff you wanted fixed?

I don't think SWsoft did read this forum. If they read this forum and listed to their end users (=us), there would be no more questions about:
- subdomains,
- qmail,
- spamassassin updates,
- single user login,
- phpMyAdmin updates
- .........

the first page of this forum already state that this is a user-user forum not a swsoft support forum. If you want new features you have to contact them.

I think v8.0.0 was for swsoft more an update to get in line with their long term strategy. It is more a technical update to archieve compability with Virtuozzo and things like that. Now Plesk is also on schedule for their Open Fusion path I am sure they will work again on new features.

PLEASE! Please please plesk developers, its a serious demand, postfix and the subdomain theory as explained in first post of thread. Just the way 1and1.com hosting allow its customers to have.
