Is the only reason MySQL is not supported above 5.1 because of the web builder? If that is not being used, is it safe to install a more recent and secure version of MySQL? Why does the version have to be so far behind?
Hmmm... I do not see 5.7 version here http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/windows/installer/
At the moment we support MySQL 4.1.22 - 5.1 (5.5 for remote database servers)
Other versions weren't tested and we can't guarantee correct APS or backup/restore operation with these untested versions.
