Need help setting up my DNS server

Hi. I just recently ordered a domain: liltechdude.com from 1and1. I would like to use my own DNS server (on my server using plesk where the site will be hosted) instead of 1and1s nameservers. I am a bit confused at what information I need to give 1and1 in regards to how to get to my nameserver that is hosted on my server. Is this possible? I tried giving them ns1.liltechdude.com but the problem is, they are the register for liltechdude.com. It won't let me set the nameserver to the IP of my server. I must be doing something wrong.

You should ask them at 1&1 for the process...Typically the registrar will have a way for you to register name servers but it looks like 1&1 does it differently:
