I´m trying to monitorize a network with 10 servers with plesk, some in windows and most with linux.

I tried to install cacti but I can´t see any other machine in the network, I hear about nagios but I don´t know exactly how to install it.

anyone know something about these programs?

can you recomend me some other programs?

ps: can nagios or cacti be use to monotorize exactly ports, like port 80 in the port 12 of a switch.

excuse me about my english.

I use a program called IPCheck from Paessler.com as well as their graphing program called PRTG Grapher.

Im using zenoss (www.zenoss.com), it can monitor over ssh, or do just straight port checking. I believe the windows version also has an agent available, that lets you do software inventory, etc.
