A new Plesk installation fails with a never before seen
"Failed to execute operation: Too many levels of symbolic links"

What has changed in the installation routine that it became impossible to install Plesk? How can this be solved?

The issue is caused by an incompatibility with an instruction in /etc/my.cnf. When in the [client-server] section a command is listed that the database system is not aware of, MariaDB will start and work properly, but Plesk will not install but respond with the awkward situation shown above.

Plesk install doing the same error code with a nulled(commented out) my.cnf.
