Hi all,

I am using Plesk 8.6 for Linux.
I used "authorization is required" setting in relay options under server > mail. And checked both POP3 (lock time 20 Min) and SMTP check boxes.

But, I still can send email without checking "my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" check box in my outlook. This is a very bad situation. Plesk has anything to fix this problem?

Thanks.

See the contextual Plesk help:

POP3 authorization. With POP3 authorization, once a user has successfully authenticated to the POP server, he or she is permitted to receive and send e-mail through the mail server for the next 20 minutes (default value). You can adjust this interval by specifying another value in the lock time box.

So check your mail, and then try to send mail after 21 minutes or longer (NOT within the 20 minutes time frame).

Thanks. That's exactly what happened.

Now, I disabled POP3 (lock time 20 Min). Nobody can send email without SMTP authentication.

The only problem now is Outlook 2007 users cannot send out email :( It is Outlook problem. I am trying to solve it.

Thanks a lot for your help.
