Password protecting subdirectories - How?

elemental.tm

Basic Pleskian
Hi,

I have tried everything to password protect a subdomain in Plesk 11 for Windows but cannot get it to work. I have found no documentation related to this issue either. (Password protection does work when protecting the root of a domain.)

Please can someone give me a step by step guide on how to get this working.

Thanks in advance, j.

**UPDATE RESOLVED* I was being a *ick*ead! I was typing in the full directory from mydomain.com instead of just specifying the root with a "/"

You can create subdomain as usual domain with own subscription and use password protecting as well.

Hi IgorG, hope your well, Happy Christmas to you!

Are you saying that what I have done:

Create a subdomain under a main domain which both share the same subscription wont work?

e.g.

/subdomains/staging/httpdocs

Hi elemental.tm,

Could you please rephrase your comment?
I've just tried protected dir for a subdomain on Plesk 11 for Windows, it works well for urls like this -
http://subdomain.domain.tld/protected

In order to do this, you should use -
Website & Domains / Advanced Operations / Password-protected directories / [select domain] /Add protected directory

Hi Alexey / IgorG,

I have 2x VPS servers running 1x Windows and 1x Debian with Plesk 11 - both have the same issue.
I am attempting to password protect the ROOT of the subdomain using Plesk CP via:

Website & Domains / Advanced Operations / Password-protected directories / [select domain] /Add protected directory

http://mysubdomain.mydomain.com/

I still cannot get it to work!!???**** Are you able to replicate?

This should be simple to action but I cannot see what if anything I am doing wrong and I'm desperate to get this working.
