Resolved Permanent SEO-safe 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS : Certificate errors

If I enable
Permanent SEO-safe 301 redirect from HTTP to HTTPS

checkbox in Hosting Settings, I get weird errors from various sites (namely, android apps that complain that my chain of certificate is in error)

If I disable that, I get no errors!

Any ideas why?

Sounds weird.
* Do you maybe redirect from HTTP non-www.domain.tld to HTTPS www.domain.tld? or vice-versa?
* Have you checked your certificate?
* What does SSL Server Test (Powered by Qualys SSL Labs) say?

Many thanks -- very thorough site. It found a missing CA chain; added it and problem vanished.. I now have two certs in the CA; one after another, and that solved the problem.
