Please Explain: How to add additional FTP users

This seems like a simple question but I can't find the answer. Basically, I just want to add some extra FTP users for a certain domain so that multiple people can update a website.

I come from a non plesk / windows world where I simply granted ftp access to other users and gave them permissions to access certain directories.

I don't fully understand the whole permission s / ownership thing on linux.

Can someone please explain how to add additional FTP users.
