  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Plesk 12.5 - Backup. Comments are not reported on FTP External Storage

AmeliaG

Basic Pleskian
Hello everybody

When I add "comments" to Plesk creating an FTP External Storage, these comments are missing when I retrieve the backup.tar. I only see the date and the time.

Eveything is ok if I create an internal backup. Comments are there.

Any helps ?

Thanks Amelia

I don't understand. Under Plesk 12.0. I could read the name of the file, and now under 12.5 I cannot! You think that new version improve the features of the old version.

Do you backup several domains to the same FTP folder? What is your scenario? Possibly using of separate folders on FTP may help you.

I did all the tests possible. No names of the backup when you dump the "tar" file to an FTP repository, just date and time. it was ok with Plesk 12.0. This may be a bug?

No, it's not a bug. Backup Manager screen has been redesigned. Instead of file name you will see dump creation time.
It's not a good idea to mix backups from several sources in the same FTP folder.
Could you explain your scenario to understand clearly what we've missed (except comments for FTP backups)?

Ok, can you tell me with 150 domains dumped on FTP repository, how to find a domain without a name ? In version 12.0 you could read "backup_domain.tld", now you only see 150 different times and dates. It may not be a bug, but this is not the correct way to display the backups.

Even with the Dropbox Backup extension you can see the name of the domain, date and time.

Thanks again

I absolutely agree with you, that it should display comment. But as soon as it is not displayed the only way is to separate backups by different folders on FTP and for each domain modify Personal FTP repository settings to use individual folder.
Overwise you will unable to recognize your backups. It also should make backup management more easier
