Plesk 7.0.1 Firewall suddenly blocking http(s) traffic

After 3 months without any problems, a server with Windows 2003 Web and Plesk 7.0.1 suddenly refused all http and https traffic. FTP, dns, mail and RDP continued to work without any problems..

When logged on with remote desktop, it is possible to visit all websites the server is hosting within the terminal session.

Tried a reboot, didn't help..
Tried to disable and enable the firewall (using plesk), this helped... for 15 minutes ..

Currently the server is running with the firewall disabled.. Which is not a very big deal because these servers are running behind a dedicated firewall.

Anyone who has came across this behavior? Any recommendations for a solid software firewall?

Thanks in advance!

do you use the visnetic firewall? does it work? which version do you use? for server or workstation?

I've used v2.2 privately, not on our server, and it's been good. I didn't know there was a workstation version..

i have downloaded the trial version of it. and it look very professional but it is kinda difficult to make the correct settings.

yes, it is, but the wizards help. But all server firewalls are like this, you need to give all ports you want open, they filter the traffic at the ip protocol level not software level :)

yes i know. the visnetic settings look very similar to the hardware firewall which im using. i also just wanted to use a software firewall just to increase the security. the visnetic is a way to professional for me. but very good. i would recommen it to somebody which has a serious security problem. no doubt it is the best firewall i had seen so far. very good perfomance. i had already tried out the tiny firewall and i wasn't setisfied with it because it blocked the trafic sometimes for no reason and it always took much performance. i guess visnetic is the best choice. i dont trust those wizards but of course it helps very much. i made the settings manual and havent tried the wizard.
