Plesk 8.1.1 cann't be aware of MS SQL server 2005 Express

Hi All,

I installed MS SQL server 2005 Express with the Authentication that is "Mix Mode " . Then, I also installed Plesk 8.1.1 by GUI and I chose Custom Install Type:
1)database engines which plesk stores its own database is MS SQL server.
2) Select Component :
I can't see MS SQL server or MSDE,but i saw them before in Plesk 7.5.2. But I continuouslly Install . I typed completely Server Name "localhost\SQLEXPRESS" , username and password for sa.

When I install completely and Login in Plesk Panel, go into services managerment:
- MSSQL server not install
- SQL server Express installed. And Only Plesk Database created in it.

I using Account Mydomain to log into Plesk Panel. I can't create MS SQL server Database.
Then I tried to Add New Database server in Database server item of Plesk. But I only can choose MySQL. I don't find MSSQL.

Summarizely, I only want to use MS SQL server Express 2005 for storing Plesk Database and Customer's Databases.

Finally, To be able to use MSSQL server in Plesk, Must I install two version MSSQL(MSSQL server 2000 or MSDE and MSSQL server Express in this situation ?

Anyone please help me resolve above problem.

Thanks very much
kind regards,
vominh

Did you install a Plesk license that supports MSSQL? With the default Plesk license that allows you to set up one domain, you can't use MSSQL.

Same problem here.
I cannot select MSSQL when I creat a database anymore.
Also the license shows that I can create MS SQL databases.

I had the same problem. Not an easy fix to find, but in this forum was the answer.

Please see this link for recent Plesk recommendation to the problem as I understand it and have experienced.

Originally, the following info was in a post in this forum, but is no longer available due to the latest version of Plesk For Windows providing a resolution as stated above(I have not upgraded yet, but the following info did fix my problem with not being able to see SQL tools in Plesk 8.1.0.) I use SQL Server 2005 Express, works great.

This is a copy of the post I found before the Plesk 8.2 upgrade release:
Plesk update plesk_8.1.0_update070216.19 makes SQL services in Plesk missed
SYMPTOMS You have installed Plesk 8.1.0 you can see that MSSQL and MySQL services are shown in Plesk services management page Plesk > Server > Service Manager Then you installed Plesk update plesk_8.1.0_update070216.19 and you can see that SQL services are missed.
RESOLUTION
1. Download the hotfix http://download1.swsoft.com/Plesk/Autoupdate/Windows/8.1.0/114084/class.ServiceControl.php (I believe no longer available do to version upgrade).
2. Put the updated file into %plesk_dir%adminplib folder but first backup the original file.

Original link that solved my problem.
