I upgraded to Plesk 8.3 from 8.2.1 and it blew up. It would not install. It rolled back (or so I thought) and then gave an exception.
When it was said and done the event log was full of messages about not being able to find php_pdo.dll
Upon further research, I found that this file was part of a newer PHP 5 Package. When I looked closer I found that the PHP 5 for sites was PHP 5.2.1 and Plesk's PHP 5 was 5.0.2... but they were using the same PHP.INI. So when plesk would try to start and load the new extensions included in Plesk 5.2.1 it would say it could not find the extensions.
So I went and I copied the PHP5.2 files from the Common PHP install into the Plesk\Admin\Bin folder.
This solved the PHP error but now I get "The file index.php is part of Plesk distribution. It cannot be run outside of Plesk environment." when I try to open the control panel.
I submitted a ticket ($75 for a buggy 8.3 install). This is not what I call a proper distribution. I've NEVER had a problem before (since Plesk 7.5). It was only after I installed that I came to the forum to see that a WHOLE HEAP of people were having the same problems with 8.3.
I am very disappointed in "Parallels". If this many people are having server which become completely inoperable then they should remove the 8.3 version from their site until they can get it right.
Meanwhile I'm stuck. My websites are active but webmail and plesk are screwed. Anybody have ANY insight?
