Plesk 9.5.3 - Can't switch mail service on domain

Hello,

On Plesk 9.5.3, we're unable to change mail service On/Off for a domain.

When new domain is created this option is marked and greyed so can't be changed and domain created is forced to switch on mail service.

Also trying to change an existing domain inside mail settings result in check "Activate mail service on domain" also marked and greyed out so not possible to switch off.

Mail server used is Mdaemon 9.6.6.

Thanks in advance.

First of all make sure that you have correctly specified mailserver in Server Components and try to Refresh it.

Dear Igor,

Already tried your suggest even some other things related before reporting this. Also refreshed server components.

Attached you can see a shot of server components showing mail server installed and active but no sense.

Looking from your help, many thanks in advance.

Hello again,

Thought I think is a differente issue, already tried the fix proposed and no sense.

When I replace the two files inside the fix (constants.php3 & class.MailPreferencesForm.php) we get blank login page and if I only replace class.MailPreferencesForm.php then login page works but wheneve you enter in any option mail related you get also blank page.

Waiting for more suggestions, and thanks again :)

Dear Igor,

More info about that could be helpfull:

If we install MailEnable Standard Server, disable Mdaemon services, refresh plesk server components and choose MailEnable as mail server as showed in attached "capture4.jpg" then if you go to domain -> mail settings and try to change mail service switch you see that now if NOT greyed and you can change it On/Off as showed in attached "capture5.jpg".

So looks like mdaemon integration related with this plesk version number :-?

What is sure is that this check is needed to work because if you create a domain in some (many) cases you need to redirect to external mail servers in DNS MX registers and don't want to use with local mail server resulting in domain created in local mail server and all mail to this domain from server not working because of trying to deliver locally and accounts not exists.

Hope that this info can help you finding-making a workaround.

Thanks

Hello Igor,

Firstly tried with 9.6.5 with the same result before reporting this, we upgraded to 9.6.6 thinking about anything related to that concrete version but no sense.

Now done a completly clean install with Windows 2003 Server, Plesk 9.5.3 and Mdaemon 9.6.5 version with the same result as showed in the attached shots.

So waiting for more suggesstions... :-?

Hello Igor again,

No news since last year ;) so we continue trying things till we get any suggestion from you...

Meantime we also tried a clean install with Windows 2003 Server, Plesk 10 trial and Mdaemon 9.6.5 with the same result as you can see in the attached capture.

Regards

It looks like that MDaemon doesn't support this feature - on/off mail service for domain. As you saw before other mailservers can use this feature.
BTW, Mdaemon is not supported by Plesk 10.x according to Release Notes.

Dear Igor,

After almost two weeks spending many time and trying a lot of things, some suggested and others not, I'm really sad seeing your response "...looks like Mdaemon don't support this feature...".

This check is related to create / not create mail domain in mail server so I think it can be enabled to be controled by plesk even using Mdaemon.

If you started answering this questions surely was because of is logical to work because if you create a domain in some (many) cases you need to redirect to external mail servers in DNS MX registers and don't want to use with local mail server resulting in domain created in local mail server and all mail to this domain from server not working because of trying to deliver locally and accounts not exists.

So please, can you confirm us official parallels response before we start going other way.

Thanks in advance.
