Plesk 9.5.4 and MySQL ODBC Driver

a client of mine asked if we could upgrade the MySQL ODBC Driver to version 5.1 ,
then I red this http://kb.parallels.com/en/112019 about plesk would not work properly without odbc 3.51

so can I upgrade on plesk 9.5.4 the MySQL ODBC Driver to 5.1? or would that break Plesk ?
