• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Plesk and IIS password synchronization issue

New Pleskian
Hi,

I have a site which is hosted at dailyrazor.com on Windows Server and which uses Plesk.

Recently for no apparent reason, and after no changes were made to my site, the server started rejecting requests with a 401 - Unauthorized error. When I contacted Daily Razor support they pointed me to this knowledge base article

https://kb.plesk.com/en/118770

and maintain that it is Plesk which is changing either the IIS or Control Panel password on its own for no good reason twice this week. Daily Razor support seems incapable of diagnosing the problem and have apparently resorted to running a job periodically which will report when the passwords get out of sync. That does not seem like a solution to me.

Is it reasonable to assume that there is a bug in Plesk which is causing the problem or is it more likely that the one of the passwords is being changed deliberately or inadvertently.

Thanks for any information.

Regards,
Will
