After Plesk backup completes.. I see 2 files..

.psa
.psa.1

(what is the 2nd file?) Do I need both?
 
Yes, of course you need both. The second file created because of WINZIP restriction of 4GB or 65000 files.

Any recommendations on FTP'ing the files from my server to a remote location in an automated way? The plesk backup ftp fails because of timeout issues and doesnt support passive mode.
