Plesk control panel displays 500 - Internal Server Error

PaddingtonC

Basic Pleskian
My Plesk 9.5.4 control panel running on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS the error " 500 - Internal Server Error" when I try to view it in a browser. The websites on the server are working but its just an issue of going to the control panel. How can I resolve this?

Reboot the server, or preferably just restart the Plesk web server software 'sw-cp-server' and 'psa' services. I'm not familiar with Ubuntu but on RHEL you'd:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/sw-cp-server stop
/etc/rc.d/init.d/psa stop
/etc/rc.d/init.d/psa start

which will bring back up both of them. We see this regularly on 9.5.4 where Plesk just random starts giving 500 errors. I'm sure Parallels will just tell you to upgrade to 11 to fix the issue.

If its an occuring problem, you can always get a possible solution here

i did ./bootstrapper.sh repair, but it doesn't help.

2013-10-31 10:17:01: (mod_fastcgi.c.1007) if you try do run PHP as FastCGI backend make sure you use the FastCGI enabled version.
You can find out if it is the right one by executing 'php -v' and it should display '(cgi-fcgi)' in the output, NOT (cgi) NOR (cli)
For more information check http://www.lighttpd.net/documentation/fastcgi.html#preparing-php-as-a-fastcgi-program
2013-10-31 10:17:01: (mod_fastcgi.c.1012) If this is PHP on Gentoo add fastcgi to the USE flags
2013-10-31 10:17:01: (mod_fastcgi.c.1105) [ERROR]: spawning fcgi failed.
