New Pleskian
Hello, I'm new to Plesk and I was trying to clear up some file storage because it's beginning to pile up.

I deleted the logs directory and then received the following error when I go to the login page

ERROR: Uncaught exception 'Zend_Log_Exception' with message '"/var/log/plesk/panel.log" cannot be opened with mode "a"' in /usr/local/psa/admin/externals/Zend/Log/Writer/Stream.php:81 Stack trace: #0 /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Plesk/Log.php(69): Zend_Log_Writer_Stream->__construct('/var/log/plesk/...') #1 /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Plesk/Log.php(370): Plesk_Log::init() #2 /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Plesk/Log.php(262): Plesk_Log::get() #3 /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Plesk/Log.php(168): Plesk_Log::log('panel', 3, '"/var/log/plesk...') #4 /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/PleskException.php(26): Plesk_Log::err('"/var/log/plesk...') #5 /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/PleskException.php(13): report_crash('"/var/log/plesk...', Array, 'Zend_Log_Except...', 500, Object(Zend_Log_Exception)) #6 [internal function]: plesk_exception_handler(Object(Zend_Log_Exception)) #7 {main} thrown (Stream.php:81)

After some mingling with SSH (I can't exactly remember what I did), when I want to go to the login page it says "Server Error 502 Bad Gateway".

Any and all help is welcome. Thanks.

Also I just remembered I made a full backup for Plesk before I messed around with the logs. Is there any way the backup could be of any use at this point?

Okay, I've run that command and apparently I've run out on disk storage on sda1. The problem with this is that yesterday I saw only about 6gb used out of 10gb of total storage, and then I partitioned my server to increase another 10gb (to a total of 20gb) + detect hardware changes in Health Monitoring to reflect that the total storage is currently 20gb. Any ideas on this?

root@vps76558:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
udev 972M 4.0K 972M 1% /dev
tmpfs 196M 660K 195M 1% /run
/dev/sda1 20G 20G 0 100% /
none 4.0K 0 4.0K 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
none 5.0M 20K 5.0M 1% /run/lock
none 977M 4.0K 977M 1% /run/shm
none 100M 0 100M 0% /run/user

The main idea is that you need to clean up a full disk partition /dev/sda1. Otherwise, Plesk will not work.
Find out what large files and directories the partition is using and clean it up with care.

How do I do a full clean up for the disk partition? Is it possible to wipe away the whole thing and restore a back up from my laptop?

This is a purely Linux administrative task that experienced Linux administrators solve in different ways, depending on their experience and skills.
It is very difficult to formalize it and give any specific advice. For example, you can use these commands to find the five largest files on your partition:

Code:
# cd /
# find -type f -exec du -Sh {} + | sort -rh | head -n 5

You decide on the possibility of deleting them, depending on your understanding of what kind of files they are and how important they are for the normal functioning of the system.

Code:
# cd /
# find -type f -exec du -Sh {} + | sort -rh | head -n 5
I couldn't do the second line of command, it returned this error

sort: write failed: /tmp/sortrIKX0i: No space left on device
find: `du' terminated by signal 13 (multiple times)
...
find: `./proc/20996/task/20996/fd/5': No such file or directory
find: `./proc/20996/task/20996/fdinfo/5': No such file or directory
find: `./proc/20996/fd/5': No such file or directory
find: `./proc/20996/fdinfo/5': No such file or directory
find: `du' terminated by signal 13 (multiple times)
...

The command does not work because the disk is full. You urgently need to delete something or expand the partition if there is nothing to delete.

I just upgraded my Plesk storage from 10gb to 20gb. Last I checked my storage consumed 6gb of space, but now after doing some work (which I believe would not consume a lot of space) it seems to have consumed almost all of the storage space (all 20gb). It makes it hard for me to access SSH because there's no more storage room. Now I can't access Plesk via the dashboard because of server error 502 bad gateway. Is there any way I can rectify this problem via SSH?

You've probably accumulated some huge logfiles due to errors piling up.
Try these:
du -Shat 100M /var/log/
du -Shat 100M /var/www/vhosts/system/*/logs
