Plesk DNS bind

Gorlist

Basic Pleskian
Hi, just received new dedicated server running Plesk 8.01 - very impressive.

Very new to Plesk, though I have read the documents and gone through the forums.

Currently slightly confused, unsure.

I would like the dedicated box to run its own DNS server, how can I do this?

According to the manual its controlled from System/Server/DNS zone templates.

When I visit this section 8 DNS records are displayed, should I adjust these to my primary server domain (ns1.my-domain.com, ns2 " ")? and then update the domain to my new server IP address accordingly?

After that should I then create a new client/domain in the General section according to my primary server address?

I already have a number of other urls which I previously hosted pointing to my ns1, ns2.my-domain.com records.

Any help (step by step :) ), or advice would be much appreciated!

Best Regards,

James

Right -

ive set my domain nameservers to ns1.my-domain.com, & ns2.my-domain.com with two IP address of the server.

What should I do for the DNS zone template?

Currently stands as:

<domain>. NS ns1.my-domain.com.
<domain>. NS ns2.my-domain.com.
<domain>. A <ip>
<domain>. MX (10) mail.<domain>.
<ip> / 24 PTR <domain>.
ftp.<domain>. CNAME <domain>.
mail.<domain>. A <ip>
ns.<domain>. A <ip>
webmail.<domain>.A <ip>

So far ive only adjusted the NS records (entered ns1.my-domain.com, and added a second one for ns2).

Is their anything else I need to adjust in the DNS zone template? (ip address's etc?)

Ive also added a client and the primary domain through the General section of Plesk.

I have a number of other urls pointing to ns1.my-dmain.com & ns2 name servers which need to be on separate hosting accounts - so I assume when its fully working I can just create a client and domain and Plesk will know what to do?

Slowly getting their, any help would be much appricated :)

Regards!
