Plesk installation

CahitE

Basic Pleskian
I have tryed 2 times to reinstall os but both the same :

[root@localhost Desktop]# chmod +x parallels_installer_v3.7.1_build101103.18_os_CentOS_5_x86_64
[root@localhost Desktop]# ./parallels_installer_v3.7.1_build101103.18_os_CentOS_5_x86_64
bash: ./parallels_installer_v3.7.1_build101103.18_os_CentOS_5_x86_64: cannot execute binary file

why i am getting this error ?

Are sure that you have installed 64 bit version of CentOS?

New clean install of Plesk Panel 10.0.0

Hi,

I'm attempting to install on a new clean VDS build of Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS (32bit) [within a vmware container]

./parallels_installer_v3.7.1_build101015.08_os_Ubuntu_10.04_i386 --select-release-id PLESK_10_0_0 --install-everything --enable-xml-output

Everything starts ok and I can see that the file structure has started to built, however, after 2.5 hrs I can't see that the installation has been completed. What is the typical build time?

I checked to see if I could initialise the panel via CLI, using
/usr/local/psa/bin/init_conf --init -passwd <pwd> -email <name@fqdn>

but can't see that /usr/local/psa/ has been created yet...

How long should this take?

Kind regards, Edward

Hi,

No reply so I re-installed the os with Ubuntu 10.4.1 LTS x86_64. Re-partitioned the drives and swap space, then loaded PHP5 before attempting to do another clean install of Plesk Panel 10.0.1 (64bit).

root@server:/# ./parallels_installer_v3.7.1_build101014.17_os_Ubuntu_10.04_x86_64 --select-release-id PLESK_10_0_1 --install-everything --enable-xml-output
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?><autoinstaller status="install_ok" error_message="Installation started" />

SO the question is how long should this take - - I'm in the same position as earlier trying to establish the status of the installation, can anyone give me a clue please.

I've checked to see if the admin password file required for initialization has been created... /usr/local/psa/bin/init_conf
but all I can see is /usr/local/ no psa directory. At what point is this sub-directory created?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Hello - is there anyone there?

After 3+ hours Plesk 10.0.1 still doesn't appear to have completed it's installation - unable to access web interface via port 8443 to initialize. The /usr/local/psa sub-directory still hasn't been created and I'm assuming that it should have.

What's the process for re-installing Plesk Panel 10 if it didn't install correctly? Can I just execute the binary file again and use a different installation step process (e.g. --web-interface)?

Ok - imho I would recommend using the --web-interface option when running the parallels-installer. Running purely in CLI doesn't give you any real-time feedback if there are errors on the pre-check phase prior to installation.

However, I now have the problem that initialisation failed as I was unable to set the admin password, which returned the following error message:
ERROR: PleskException
Unable to restart Named: dnsmng failed: dnsmng failed: dnsmng: Service /etc/init.d/bind9 failed to restart

Any suggestions?

Hi,

error after setting new admin password

Hi,

I'm still having the same error message - see screen shot attached.

I've checked the integrity of the bind9 configuration using webmin and updated all of the Ubuntu packages, then rebooted the server but still have the same issue. Has anyone else seen this problem ?

What I'm a little confused by is that there is a reference to php3 in the Plesk panel when I have PHP5 installed?

Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi

I've editted and renamed the various files so that the system isn't using the default rndc.conf file and key, but despite this I am unable to initialize Plesk 10 using the GUI, nor the CLI via SSH.

This is the trace when I attempt to start the bind9 service:

So for some reason the /etc/named.conf file is reporting 'permission denied' when accessed, yet I have double checked the secret key is synchronised with that of the rndc.conf file...

Where am I going wrong please.

Now resolved !!
Required a number of changes in Ubuntu server configuration to get working

Help please

same problems here. What kind of Ubuntu changes have been necessary?
I'm grateful for any hint.

Thanks,

Links to resolve the problem!

Hi Sebastian,

I found the answer after many hours on the Ubuntu forum... which then took me to the following thread: http://www.howtoforge.org/forums/showthread.php?p=116893

Rather an involved file editing process but it did resolve my problem.

My server has since crashed due to the hosting company backup issue of our VDS! This completely corrupted the Plesk Panel installation, only just back online this evening!
Atleast I had all the files and my notes which made it a lot quicker.

Have you installed webmin yet? A lot easier to check and view the status of your server.
If you have Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS then I would recommend you download the latest package and then install manually.

First install the following:
root@123# apt-get install perl libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl

Download the latest .deb package and upload to your server
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin_1.530_all.deb

Install webmin from SSH root
root@123# dpkg --install webmin_1.530_all.deb

More details for webmin on the website: http://www.webmin.com/deb.html

THANKS!!!! I did not check your solution yet, but I'm so grateful to hear about webmin. You saved me so much time...

Thanks a lot for that hint,
Sebastian
