Plesk restores old files after recreation of domain

Gijs1

New Pleskian
Hi,

Sorry for my poor English, I'm Dutch.

I use Plesk 12 on ubuntu 14 on a dedicated server.

When I delete a domain and want to recreate that domain I get some strange behaviour:

1: With the recreation of the domain, Plesk says there is already a user with this name (the one I deleted).

2: I install Magento through the Plesk installer on the recreated domain but Plesk gives me the files back of the domain (and contents) that I first deleted (i deleted the domain to get rid of these files and start clean). I see this also happening with other domains where I restore a Plesk backup. When the files exists they are not over written.

Does someone knows how I can install a clean Magento through the installer without the old (edditted) files?

Thanks in advanced.

Gijs

Hi Gijs1,

after you deleted a (sub)domain, please check as well the folder "/var/www/vhosts/*" and the depending domain-folder "subdomain.domain.com", to be sure, that the (sub)domain - content inside the mentioned (sub)domain - folder got deleted as well, before you re-create the (sub)domain.
After you deleted a (sub)domain, you could as well delete the depending user-account on your server with the command "userdel ExampleUserName".

Thanks for the replay. I checked the existence of these folders and they where not there, that's the reason why I think its strange ;) I did not delete the user manually, does the deletion of the user relate with restoring unwanted files?

Hi Gijs1,

it depends on the restoration process you use. If your backup includes the folders and files, then you certainly will restore these files and folders as well from the backup. I wonder a bit, why you make a backup ( with files and folders from the vhost ), delete the vhost and restore the same files and folders from the backup, wondering that they are still there.... Don't you think, that it might be a more efficient way to rsync files and folders from a complete, standard Magento package ( which you can download from: "https://www.magentocommerce.com/download", which you might backup in a separate folder on your server?

Hi,

I'm not restoring a backup from Plesk.
First scenario: I install Magento through the installer of Plesk. I play around with Magento till I rely mess it up. After that I delete manually al the files from the domain and install a clean Magento though the installer of Plesk. I than get my messed-up files back..
Second scenario: When I totally remove the domain and recreate the domain in Plesk and install Magento through the installer of Plesk, I get my messed-up files back...

I think the unwanted files are not rely deleted but can't understand why and how to fix this. This all happens on a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.

Hi Gijs1,

sorry... I can't reproduce your process and I never eperienced such a described issue with any additional package for a domain. Maybe there will be another user, who can help you here.
