• The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Plesk servers and DNS sub-domains. How to Glue?

Hi,

I have a set of Plesk managed servers. I've created a domain and all is working fine.

The MX record points elsewhere and I want to create some accounts is mail comes into the local server.

I created another domain as a subdomain of the first. e.g. support.<domain>. I can't have "A" records in both domains for ns1 and ns2 to glue the domains. If I try and add ns.support.domain I get "Error: DNS record already exists." back from where ever I try to add the second entry. Should I just put these A records in the parent?

Regards,
Mark

Now to set up the CNAME record in your Plesk control panel:

1. Log into your Plesk control panel: https://www.yourhostingcompany.com:8443/ (where XX is the number of the server your site is on, e.g. www.yourhostingcompany.com). You can also reach your control panel at http://yourdomain.com:8443/
2. Click on the Home link on the left side of the control panel page
3. Click on your domain at the bottom of the page
4. Click on the DNS Settings button on the 2nd row of buttons
5. Depending on your version of Plesk, do one of the following: Click the Add Record button and change the type to "CNAME" in the drop down menu, or on the DNS Settings page change the drop down from "A" to "CNAME" and click the Add button on the right side. If you do not have either of these buttons please contact our technical support department for assistance.
6. In the field labeled "Enter domain name" enter the unique code provided by domainname (e.g. domain12345)
7. In the field labeled "Enter canonical name" or "Value" enter support.domain.com.
