• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.

Pleskbackup adds backup to Subscription

MMcGuinness

New Pleskian
Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
Plesk 11.0.9
(Parallels Plesk Panel v11.0.9_build110120608.16 os_Ubuntu 12.04)

We run a nightly backup of all of our subscriptions to an external FTP server with the command:

/opt/psa/bin/pleskbackup clients-id CLIENTID --skip-logs --output-file=ftp://FTPUSER:FTPPASSWORD@FTPSERVER/FTPPATH/FILENAME

This runs fine for the vast majority of accounts. However there are two accounts which are quite large 22GB and 16GB for which the pleskbackup command adds the backup to the subscription backup. This of course suspends their subscription due to overuse.

Pleskbackup does not do this for any other account.

Any idea?
Michael

Hi MMcGuinness,

sorry to say that, but if an account does not have sufficient space available for a complete backup ( at least twice as double the space that is used ), just consider to only backup the mail for this account and do a manual "rsync" - backup for the webspace, with an additional manual transfer to your FTP, in a separate folder ( so you could restore that in case of an emergency ). Inform the client about loosing backup - functionality in case of an "over 50%-usage" and let the client decide, if he/she doesn't want to consider upgrading her/his account, in order to not loose this feature.

Hi MMcGuinness,

you could try to use another "split" option, if you experience such issues, because it might be, that temporary files during the backup procedure double the backup amount while the backup is still running and incomplete.
