  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Postfix exit status 127 on Plesk 12.0.18 CentoOS5

New Pleskian
Frantic as have been unable to get successful SMTP on our business server for 3 days.
This seems to have started after the weekly server restart at around 4am this Sunday
Maillogs started to show this immediately after restart:

Apr 25 04:06:52 server217-174-253-120 master[3441]: fatal: master_spawn: exec /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd: No such file or directory
Apr 25 04:06:53 server217-174-253-120 postfix/master[11449]: warning: process /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd pid 3441 exit status 1
Apr 25 04:06:53 server217-174-253-120 postfix/master[11449]: warning: /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd: bad command startup -- throttling

Replaced /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd by copying it from another server (it is the same version etc) and running postfix set_permissions

Postfix smptd now launches but all processes are now failing with a generic exit code 127:

Apr 26 13:53:09 web1 postfix/master[9231]: daemon started -- version 2.8.17, configuration /etc/postfix

Have swapped to qmail in Plesk which works, but swapped back to Postfix, ran mchk, still no joy.

Getting a bit desperate now :(

Hi Igor,

I have run that and received
PHP Notice: Undefined index: mail in /usr/sbin/plesk on line 57

15:30 26/04 : In a strange update to this saga, we 'fixed' the problem by swapping to qmail
and left it overnight.

08.30 27/04 : This morning, mail is no longer working, SMTP with Qmail has shut itself off overnight and in :8443/plesk/server/services/ we cannot restart the SMTP (Qmail) (same problem as we had with Postfix yesterday)

09.00 27/04 : I have just swapped back to Postfix to run the command you mentioned above, and I am now going to switch back to Qmail again to see if it will restart and run... Obviously something is rather more amiss than it first seemed. This is a remote dedicated server that was only activated last month when migrated to from a much older server.

Further update 09.50 27/04 : swapped back to Qmail and that is now working, I just wonder how long for.
