• Debian 11 is approaching its end-of-life (vendor EOL date - August 31, 2026). Plesk Obsidian 18.0.80 will be the last release to support it.
If you are running Plesk Obsidian on Debian 11, we recommend you upgrade those servers to Debian 12 using our dist-upgrade tool.
  • We plan to deprecate and remove the support for XML RPC protocol versions earlier than 1.6.9.1 in Plesk Obsidian 18.0.82. We strongly recommend that you update all existing integrations using earlier versions of the XML RPC protocol to comply with the version 1.6.9.1 specification.

Problem restoring backup from 8.2 to 8.3

I keep getting this error when restoring a backup to an 8.3 box made from an 8.2 box.

Failed to restore client 'NAME' : String or binary data would be truncated.

Any ideas? Anyone else seen this?

Nice to see my issue complete ignored by SWSoft. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Hello hansenc,

Could you please post support ticket and send me its number?
We need to look at problem server and backup file.

I'm unable to create a ticket. I have Plesk Licensed through my Data Center and they stand on the fact that 8.3 isn't supported by them yet.

Hello hansenc,

Yeo, I've got it. Thank you.
We will investigate this issue as soon as possible - I believe it will be today/tomorrow.
Please wait.

Any updates? tried sending you a PM but was unable to.

Hello hansenc,

Sorry for delay. We is are atteded to this issue. Unfortunately we cannot find out reason of the problem.
Seems you are using SQL Express 2005, is not it? I can only suggest you as workaroud to switch Plesk database to JET or MySQL.

It is a SQL db but not Express its Standard Edition, I will switching the db engine and doing the import.

converted to JET and got a little closer, what a mess. I wish you guys released a product that worked. This is a clean brand new install and shouldnt have problems like this!

Seems to copy the files but its not grabbing the databases.

Its a disaster I'm going to have to recreate each site, pull it off our SVN server, create and import the databases.

Like a said its a mess.

Thanks SWSoft for a GREAT product!

Well I convered over to JET and its still not resorting. and its not just an MSSQL DB its also MYSQL databases. I will try the update and let you know.
