Problem with Backup-Utility

hello, i have a big problem with the server-backups - i red several tipps but nothing works till now - please help

following error(s):

if i start to make a backup with plesk error-message: "Unable to create backup session: Empty error message from utility."

the server is an 1&1 server - therefor i moved the backup-directory to another place an putted a symlink to make it work

# mv /var/lib/psa/dumps /srv/backup/psa/dumps
# rm -rf /var/lib/psa/dumps
# ln -s /srv/backup/psa/dumps /var/lib/psa/dumps

i checked the rights:

# ls -ld /srv/backup/psa/dumps
drwx------ 7 psaadm psaadm 49 2008-10-08 12:07 /srv/backup/psa/dumps
# ls -ld /srv/backup/psa/dumps/tmp
drwx------ 18 psaadm psaadm 4096 2008-10-08 12:37 /srv/backup/psa/dumps/tmp

and the modules:

# rpm -q psa-pylibplesk
psa-pylibplesk-8.6.0-suse10.2.build86080722.00

also i read the error_log file from psa

the system is writing data to the new dir but all backups dont work at all

i couldnt find any error but it still doesnt work - does anyone have a hint for me ?

Hi,

Can you clarify, were you getting this error before doing this:

# mv /var/lib/psa/dumps /srv/backup/psa/dumps
# rm -rf /var/lib/psa/dumps
# ln -s /srv/backup/psa/dumps /var/lib/psa/dumps

if no then it can be caused by the fact that scripts may not be able to work with symlinks properly so instead of symlinks you can try using bind mounts:
