I just wanted to note the process from entering a client to publishing.
Before I start, I just want to tell anyone either looking into Sitebuilder 4.0 or have recently purchased it, spend the money to have swsoft install it for you. I have read a number of complaints and have added my own over the 30 days I tried. Maybe some computers just do not like typical installations. Look at it as though Sitebuilder costs 349.00 - and includes professional installation. Sitebuilder as many of us know is worth every penny spent as it is thee most amazing system available.
Ok...
Make sure to setup the templates for clients and domains as this will greatly speed up client and domain entry with your standards/defaults.
NOTE: Before you start, or before you create a domain record in Plesk, make sure that you point the domain name to your hosting server. If you so not do this you may receive an error.
Click on the Sitebuilder Desktop:
Click on Manage Plans
The default Plan is fine, but you can also add your own Plans if you have other requirements for specific clients.
Note:
Make sure you add your hostname/IP Address to the Host tab, as this is necessary to verify the location of your web site later.
Make sure to set your domain DNS settings with your host. This can be done later, but doing it first will keep your process from breaking or causing warnings.
Add a new client: Add all necessary information.
Add a domain for the client.
If Sitebuilder is connected to Plesk 8.2 (Recommended as there will be problems with 8.1 or earlier), Click on the User link and then the clients name link to edit the user settings, and click Ok.
Click on Sites:
Click on the Site Name you want to edit
Note:
On the Publishing Settings Tab:
Sitebuilder by default sets the working directory to /httpdocs/sitebuilder/
And the Web Site URL to http://domainname.com/site/
Before doing anything more here, go to your server and access the folder that contains your web site. Navigate to the httpdocs folder and locate the index.html file.
Rename this file to index.html_old
(This file has a redirect code line to access your web documents on http://domainname.com/site/filename.html
You want to have your web site located in the root folder httpdocs so we do not want to redirect your site.
Sites:
On the Publishing Settings Tab:
Go back to your control panel and remove the /sitebuilder/ and /site/ names from the paths.
Example:
/httpdocs/
http://domainname.com
Now you can click on the button - Verify Location.
If everything was setup correctly you should receive confirmation of "Dynamic" with no errors.
Note:
If you have just setup your name servers or DNS settings, you may need to wait up to 24 hours for the site to propagate.
Now you and your clients can go and edit the web site and publish it.
FTP:
To upload via FTP, set your working directory to httpdocs/ - enter your username and password you setup in Sites.
