Remove Spamassassin and no mail gets delivered.

My server has been suffering for crazy server loads since upgrading to Version 8 on the weekend.
In a continued fight to lower loads and stop it from crashing, I removed Spamassassin from the system.
This work great for the loads.. but then no mail was delivered to email accounts on the server. I could send email.. but not recieve it??
Did I miss something?? Or do I need to alter something if I remove Spamassassin??

Long shot, but did you remove both psa-spamassassin, and spamassassin, or just spamassassin?

check the /var/qmail/mailnames/domain.com/account/.qmail files. they probably have still a reference to spamassassin
