Resie partition?

My main website is down and I need more space for my database. How do I resize a partiton?

I want to take 5 gigs from /dev/hda5

And give it to: /dev/hda6

Running Linux kernal 2.4.25

I'm not a total newbie to Linux but I'm no expert. I only have SSH access to my server.

If resizing my partitions will require a lot of programs / knowledge how do I move my /var/lib/mysql directories to a different partition?

I put in a symlink and moved my database files to a different partition but I would still like to enlarge my hda5 partition and move them back. Any help please?
