  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Resolved Resource Limits on Virtuozzo hosted Plesk Onyx?

Regular Pleskian
Hello,

are there any possibilities to limit memory/cpu/io for Plesk Hostings when Plesk is running on top of Virtuozzo 6?
As with Cgroups Manager it's not possible --> Limitations for Virtuozzo 6 & 7 :-(
(Cgroups Manager (Linux))

thx
Andreas Schnederle-Wagner

@UFHH01 - as much as I normally like your Answers - this one is not really helpful! ;)

As we are the Hosting Provider - and our whole Infrastructure is based on Virtuozzo 6 + Virtuozzo Storage SSD SAN there is no possibility for us to migrate Plesk to another System than this ... well ... we could exchange Virtualization to Hyper-V or VMWare ...:mad:o_O

My Question was if there are ANY other possibilities than this ... (even if I fear that I know the Answer already ...)

bye from sunny Austria

Many years ago I worked a lot with Virtuozzo, and as far as I remember, the upgrade to the new VZ version was very easy and simple. Why do not you go to Virtuoso 7?

@IgorG - normally updating VZ isn't that big deal ... but it's still some days/weeks of work for a larger Hosting Infrastructure (VZ itself, VZStorage Cluster, ...) ... not to speak of new Bugs / Problems ... can still remember the Problems/Bugs/Support Tickets ... we had when we updated to VZ6 ... ;-)

Anyway - most likely we are going to upgrade to VZ7 at some point this year ...

But even with VZ7 we can't limit IOPS ... is there already a Feature Request for that? As I guess with underlying VZ Storage it shouldn't be thaaat hard to implement IOPS Limits?

As you may know, Plesk and Virtuozzo absolutely different companies now and it is difficult to say for which of them this feature request should be sent because the implementation of this feature requires the work of both companies :)
But anyway, you can submit this feature request to our Plesk UserVoice.
