Restart access_logs for one domain

I manually edited the access_log file for one domain. the reason is not important to this forum but now the access_log file does not update. I know I have seen the answer in this forum before about how to correct this, but I have not been able to find the answer with my searches. Does anyone remember how to correct this goof on my part? Thanks
